With training in communication, child development, and education, Dr. AnneMarie McClain specializes in finding ways to use and design media to promote positive outcomes among youth and their families. She and her co-author won the 2024 Top Faculty Paper Award in the Children, Adolescents, and Media division of the International Communication Association. Her current work includes community-engaged scholarship with LGBTQ+ youth and experimental work with Black youth around using media to navigate racism. Dr. McClain frequently works with media organizations as a consultant, and to date, has worked with 1000+ youth and families as a researcher and former elementary school teacher.

Funding/Conflicts of Interest: Dr. AnneMarie McClain is a full-time salaried Professor at the Boston University College of Communication and reports personal fees from GBH during the conduct of the research to be presented. She also reports personal fees from the National Science Foundation (for panel service) and from Cherry Lake Publishing/Sleeping Bear Press during the conduct of the research to be presented. Finally, she reports having been a full-time salaried visiting assistant professor at Williams College in the 2022-2023 school year.
