
Dimitri A. Christakis, MD, MPH
Dimitri A. Christakis, MD, MPH, is the George Adkins Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the University of Washington, the Editor in Chief at JAMA Pediatrics, the Chief Science Officer at Children and Screens, and the Chief Health Officer at Special Olympics International. He is the author of more than 280 original research articles (h index 102), a textbook of pediatrics, co-author of the book, The Elephant in the Living Room: Make Television Work for Your Kids (Rodale 2004), and co-editor of the Handbook of Children and Screens (Springer 2025). He has appeared on CNN, NPR, Today, CBS News, ABC News, NBC News and was a featured TEDx speaker. He has devoted his career to investigating how early experiences impact children and to helping parents improve their children’s early learning environments.
