John Brand, PhD
Dr. John Brand is a Research Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. He received his PhD in experimental cognitive psychology from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada), then completed his post-doc in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. His research focuses on the interface between the attention system of the human brain and childhood and adolescent health. He is broadly interested in the use of eye tracking techniques to isolate and understand the role that attention may play in the development of childhood obesity. Specific areas of interest include understanding the role of multitasking and how environmental food cue exposure (e.g., food advertisements) can bias attention and influence physiological cravings and subsequent unhealthy behaviors.
Funding/Conflicts of Interest: Dr. John Brand reports NIH R21- and RO1 funded studies supported the research to be presented. He also reports internal institutional grants that also supported his research activities.
