
Leonna Davis, PhD
Dr. Leonna M. Davis is an Assistant Professor in Child and Adolescent Studies at Bowie State University with over 15 years of experience serving underserved communities. Her work spans nonprofits, schools, and universities—mentoring youth and adults in mental health, college access, and career readiness. Grounded in service, healing, and justice, her life’s work centers the voices of Black girls. Her research explores identity development, self-esteem, body image, and the impact of social media on mental health. Dr. Davis designs culturally responsive, media literacy programs rooted in empowerment and belonging, offering youth the tools to thrive in and beyond their communities.
