Dr. Nia Heard-Garris is a pediatrician, physician-investigator, and scholar-activist at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and in the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She examines the influence of social adversities experienced in childhood and subsequent child and adolescent health, and the factors that contribute to a child’s ability to thrive despite these experiences. Dr. Heard-Garris is also an active member in the American Academy of Pediatrics and was the Founding Chair of the Section of Minority Health, Equity, and Inclusion. She earned her Master of Business from Yale University, her Master of Science from the University of Michigan, and her Doctor of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine.
