New Framework for Defining Problematic Media Usage

Children and Screens’ CSO Dimitri Christakis, MD, MPH, and Advisory Board Member Lauren Hale, PhD, recently released the article “Toward Defining Problematic Media Usage Patterns in Adolescents” in the academic journal JAMA. This work is an important step forward in advancing knowledge in the field, proposing a new emphasis that looks beyond simply type of content consumed to consider patterns of usage as well, with the goal of helping to better evaluate media use of teens for clinicians, policy makers, researchers and other experts.
