Judith Danovitch, PhD

Dr. Danovitch investigates how children choose among information sources and what motivates children to seek out information. She is interested in how preschool and elementary school children develop an understanding of other people’s knowledge and expertise, and how they apply their understanding of other people to evaluate nonhuman information sources, including emerging technologies such as internet search engines, voice assistants, and AI. She is also interested in how children assess the information that they receive and whether their judgments vary depending on the nature of the information source. Dr. Danovitch’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Templeton Foundation.
