Dr. Anne Oeldorf-Hirsch is an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Connecticut and a Fulbright Scholar. Broadly, she researches the social and psychological effects of social media and other communication technology. Specifically, her research focuses on engaging with news on social media, algorithmic literacy and transparency, and niche social media communities for marginalized and stigmatized individuals. Her research has been presented at major communication and information science conferences, and has been published in top communication journals such as Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Media Psychology, and Social Media + Society. She has developed graduate and undergraduate courses on social media research and strategy, and also teaches courses about computer-mediated communication and new communication technology.
