Faith Rogow, PhD

Faith Rogow, Ph.D., is an independent scholar, celebrated innovator of media literacy education practices, and author of the groundbreaking Media Literacy for Young Children: Teaching Beyond the Screen Time Debates (NAEYC, 2022). For more than 30 years she has worked to ensure that inquiry-based media literacy instruction is as common in preK-12 schools as teaching traditional print literacy. That work has included serving on or leading the teams that founded the Journal for Media Literacy Education, Project Look Sharp (the nation’s first curriculum-driven media literacy education initiative), and the National Association for Media Literacy Education. She was instrumental in developing NAMLE’s Core Principles of Media Literacy Education, and more recently has written “Preparing for Civic Responsibility in Our Digital Age: A Framework for Educators to Ensure Media Literacy Education for Every Student” (Center for Educational Equity – Teachers College, Columbia University 2023) and the Awareness and Critical Thinking (ACT) Project (2025), a set of interconnected activities to help K-5 educators teach students to navigate a world filled with misinformation. She also co-authored The Teacher’s Guide to Media Literacy: Critical Thinking in a Multimedia World (Corwin, 2012) and the Quick Reference Guide: Media Literacy in Every Classroom (2017, ASCD).
