Lauren Hale, PhD
Lauren Hale, PhD, is Professor of Family, Population, and Preventive Medicine at the Renaissance School of Medicine and core faculty and Director of Faculty Development in the Program in Public Health at Stony Brook University. Supported by the NIH and the Pamela and Stephen Della Pietra Family Foundation, her research focuses on sleep health equity, sleep-related policies (including high school start times and daylight saving time), and behavioral strategies to improve sleep health, such as reducing evening screen use and increasing physical activity. Dr. Hale is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Sleep Health and has served on the National Sleep Foundation’s Board of Directors, including as Chair and Vice Chair, and chaired its expert consensus panel on screen use and sleep health. She currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Panels of Beyond Bedtime and Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development. Finally, she co-edited the open access Handbook on Children and Screens: Digital Media, Development, and Well-being from Birth through Adolescence.
