California Partners Project has released its report “Belonging in a Digital Age: Teens, Tech & Third Places” showing teens value in person connection with friends, and that they want more welcoming places to connect with peers–not more screen time. The research also revealed insights on teens using AI chatbots, with nearly half saying they’d rely on the technology less if they were more easily able to connect in person. The findings contribute to the growing body of research on how today’s youth perceive their own digital media use, and how the ubiquitous nature of these platforms has impacted their social relationships.
